"We are Back" (part 2)

Assalamualaikum and good night viewers, 🙊

Tonight we will continue to part 2 yeahhhhhhhh !!!! 💃

RIBOSOMES

Baggage handling system

  • Location: The ribosomes in cells are located in both plant and animal cells. They can be located either attached to the Endoplasmic Reticulum, or floating in the cytoplasm.

  • Function: The function of the ribosomes in a cell is to build proteins, as well as structure them. Also, they catalyze the synthesis of the cells proteins.

  • Analogy: The baggage handling system in an airport is much like the ribosomes in a cell. Ribosomes serve as the assembly site for proteins, so essentially they create the proteins for the cell. The baggage handling system in an airport serves as a place for people to load all of their baggage. Then, it is assembled in a way that everyone's baggage can fit on to the plane. It serves as an assembly site for all of the luggage

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM

Waiting areas

  •           Location: The Endoplasmic Reticulum is between the nucleus and the Golgi apparatus and it is in both plant and animal cells.

  •    Function: It is mainly responsible for the transportation of proteins and other carbohydrates to another organelle, which includes lysosomes, Golgi apparatus, plasma membrane,.

  •    The waiting areas in the airport are kind of like the Endoplasmic Reticulum in the cell. The purpose of the Endoplasmic Reticulum is like a place that transit the protein to Golgi Apparatus. The reason that waiting areas are like the Endoplasmic Reticulum is because it is like a place that transit passenger to another area like boarding area in an airport.

GOLGI APPARATUS

Boarding

  •      Location: The Golgi Apparatus is located next to the Endoplasmic Reticulum and near the nucleus in the cytoplasm. This organelle is found in both animal and plant cells.

  •     Function: The main function of the Golgi apparatus is to sort out the proteins and package them to ready them for secretion. The Golgi also helps transport lipids.

  •      Analogy: in this analogy boarding the airplane in an airport is similar to the function of the Golgi Apparatus in a cell. The Golgi Apparatus receives new proteins and lipids from the Endoplasmic Reticulum and then redistributes them throughout the cell. It modifies the proteins chemically and then "repackages" them. When you board the plane from the airport you get assigned to different sections of the airplane, and then the flight takes you to your destination. Once you leave the flight, everyone gets "redistributed" throughout the new airport. This process is similar to what happens to the new proteins and lipids.

VACOULE

Restaurant/Coffee Shop

  •     Location: There are numerous vacuoles located throughout the cytoplasm of plant and animal cells.

  •     Function: Vacuoles provide structural support, storage of pigment and nutrient, waste disposal, help in growth, and maintain turgor pressure.

  •      Analogy: In this analogy, the vacuole would be classified as the restaurant/ coffee shop in airport because both store water, food nutrient and disposal waste products.

CHLOROPLAST

Solar Panel

  •           Location: Chloroplasts can be found anywhere within the cytoplasm of plant cells.

  •     Function: The chloroplasts in a plant cell absorbs sunlight to produce ATP and make photosynthesis.

  •     Analogy: The chloroplast in this analogy would serve as the solar panels of airport because they capture, and then convert and provide energy for their cell or airport.

MITOCHONDRIA

Generator

  •          Location: The Mitochondria of a cell is located in both plant and animal cells. They are found floating throughout the cell.

  •      Function: The most important function of the mitochondria is to produce energy and supply energy for the cell.

  •     Analogy: We would consider the generator the “mitochondria” of the airport, because the generator would use natural resources such as fuel to produce energy and supply it to the airport similar to mitochondria produce and supply energy.

CENTRIOLE

Airport express train

  •      Location: The centriole is found at either ends of a cell that are dividing. This organelle is only found in only animal cells.

  •     Function: The function of centrioles is mainly to help separate cells during mitosis, but also helps with cellular organization, and animal development.

  •    Analogy: In this analogy the centrioles would serve as the airport express train. Centrioles are found in animal cells and they are responsible for helping to separate chromosomes during cell division because the express train separates the airport from outside (division). It is the same with cells, the centrioles divide the cell into different parts.

LYSOSOME AND PEROXISEM

Janitors

Peroxisome

Lysosome

  • ·         Location: Lysosomes and Peroxisomes are scattered throughout the cell, and are found in both animal and plant cell.

  • ·         Function: Lysosomes and Peroxisomes digest ingested materials and worn out organelles and also kill dangerous things that get into its cell. Lysosomes and Peroxisomes can also fuse with vesicles formed by endocytosis, digesting the food particles within.

  • ·         Analogy: Lysosomes and Peroxisomes in the cell have a lot of the same functions as janitors do in airports. Lysosomes and Peroxisomes contain digestive enzymes that remove all of the excess from the cell, like food particles, invading viruses or bacteria, and worn out cell parts. Janitors in the airport are in charge of cleaning up all of the extra trash throughout the building. This keeps the airport clean, just as the lysosomes and peroxisomes keep the cell in good shape.

VESICLE

Tugs

Vesicle

  • ·         Location: A vesicle is a small structure within a cell, consisting of fluid enclosed by a lipid bilayer. It can be found in both animal and plant cell

  • ·         Function: Many vesicles transport substance from one organelle to another.

  • ·         Analogy: Tugs or pushback tractors are special low profile vehicles that push the plane around. Tugs are used because although many aircraft are capable of moving themselves backwards on the ground using reverse thrust, the resulting jet blast may cause damage to the terminal building or equipment. Engines close to the ground may also blow sand and debris forward and then suck it into the engine, causing damage to the engine. A pushback is therefore the preferred method to move the aircraft away from the gate. The reason why the tug is a good analogy for the vesicles is because they move things around. The tug moves the planes around at the airport and the vesicles move proteins around the cell.

An Airport (part 1)

Sunday, 8 January 2017

Assalamualaikum guys, 😘

Like we said before, we've promise that we want to share about analogy of cell related to an airport  "What we want to do" right so this is the time 💣 We are so excited to share to all of you 😋 Let's see .....

 CELL WALL

fence around the runway

  •  Location: The cell wall surrounds the entire cell, including the cell membrane, but  its only have in plant cells.

  • Function: The major function of the cell wall is to provide rigidity, tensile strength, structural support, protection against mechanical stress and infection. It also separates interior of the cell from the outer environment.

  •     Analogy: In this analogy the cell wall would be classified as the fence around the runaway because they both maintain the shape of cell and runaway. Moreover, protect their cell, or runaway airport from being intrude. Cell wall is mainly composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, glycoproteins, pectins and lignin. While fence composed from galvanized steel wire and coated with an architectural grade polyester powder coating system. Those materials support hold up the cell and runaway airport. Furthermore, both cell wall and fence also can divide it between inside and outside.

CELL MEMBRANE

custom officer

  •      Location: The cell membrane surrounds the whole entire cell, and floats around the cytoplasm fluidly. This organelle is present in both animal and plant cells.

  •     Function: The function of the cell membrane is to let good things go into the cell, keep bad things out, and prevent some necessary things in the cell from leaving. They are “selectively permeable” which means they allow certain things in and out.

  •     Analogy: In this analogy the cell membrane would be the custom officer because they both doesn’t let dangerous things into the cell and airport, however they let harmless things pass after being checked.

CYTOPLASM

The atrium of an airport

  •  Location: The cytoplasm in located within the cell membrane, but not the nucleus. It is found in plant and animal cells.

  • Function: The cytoplasm provides a medium for the organelles to remain suspended and its also aids in the movement of the different cellular elements.

  • Analogy: The cytoplasm of an airport would be considered the atrium of an airport. As we know that cytoplasm is like a place that hold everything inside it and it similar to atrium of an airport because it is like a medium that placed all of area in the airport.

NUCLEUS

Air traffic controller tower

  •  Location: The nucleus of the cell can be found in both plants and animals. It is not always located in the center of the cell, because it could be somewhere within the cytoplasm

  • Function: The nucleus of the cell contains all of the DNA that the cell has, its controls the heredity characteristics of an organism. It is responsible for protein synthesis, cell division, growth and differentiation. Stores heredity material in the form of deoxy-ribonucleic acid (DNA) strands.

  • Analogy: We would consider the nucleus of the cell to be the air traffic controller tower. Nucleus is the main controller in cell it is similar to air traffic controller tower because we know it is the main controller for airplane to departure and landing.

NUCLEOLUS

The man who control the tower

  • Location: The nucleolus of the cell located inside the nucleus and can be found in both animal and plant cell.

  • Function: Makes past of the ribosome from protein and RNA and then sends it out to combine with complete ribosomes.

  • Analogy: the nucleolus of the airport is the people controlling the control tower, are a part of the control tower. Just like the nucleolus is a part of the nucleus that control everything inside and outside the airport.

Our entry will stop at part 1 and we will continue with part 2. We hope viewers will waiting for our new post 😊😘

Goodnight guys, sleep tight 💕💕
